Teletrix Adds Realism to New England Radiological Health Committee Radiological Exercise

Teletrix participated with great success in adding to the realism of a simulated radiolocial exercise along side the 2012 New England Radiological Health Committee (NERHC) Full Participation Exercise.  Due to the use of Teletrix simulators, no radioactive sources were used to generate radiation readings during area surveys and decontamination frisking.

HAZMAT Team using Teletrix SP900 Probe PaksThe response included the Vermont HazMat Team who used the Teletrix SP900 Probe Paks on their meters for doing personnel and area surveys and decontamination activities.  Also assisting with controller responsibilities for the HAZMAT Team were members of the United States Coast Guard’s Atlantic Strike Force as well as Mark Sells of EPA Region 9. referred to as “Operation Sparkling Champlain” on 

October 25 by providing SP900 Probe Paks and controller personnel.  

The exercise developed by Tetra Tech under the leadership of Dr. William Irwin was a response to a fire and explosion that resulted in a radiological incident.

Additional participants in the exercise were members of the New England Compact, FBI, Brookhaven National Laboratory and local Fire Departments and many others.
